[GIVEAWAY] Star Wars x Covergirl Makeup Review

photo-1Well hello there! Long time no talk. Sorry for being so MIA lately! Senior year of college seemed to just snowball in terms of my workload, but I am back with review on some products I was sent recently. So let’s get to it, shall we?

This special Star Wars collab with Covergirl is for the new and long-awaited Star Wars movie coming out this December 18. If you haven’t watched the trailer yet (but let’s be real who hasn’t seen it yet!), go watch it now here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGbxmsDFVnE

Now, let’s appreciate the awesomeness that is this makeup collab that satisfies the ultimate makeup geek 🙂

The SuperSizer Waterproof Mascara in Black is part of my new everyday lash routine. It truly lives up to its waterproof claim as it requires an oil-based makeup remover to cleanly take off. The long, thin wand does some serious sci-fi level things to the length of my lashes. My lashes are naturally fairly thick, so this lengthening mascara worked great for me. With the thin wand with short bristles comes a potential for clumpy lashes. I ran into this problem from time to time using the product so far, but it’s nothing that can’t be solved without a couple brush-throughs using a clean lash comb.

The lipstick I received was in the color “50” which is a deep plum colored lipstick. I imagine a sexy dark side vixen rocking a shade like this accompanied by a sharp cat-eye and intensely contoured features. The application was buttery smooth, so much that I suggest being super careful when applying because the product could slip and, with the dark color, it could easily make uneven applications more obvious. I only had to do 1 coat to achieve a solid look, but with a second application you can achieve a darker, vampier look. Since my lips are naturally dry (if someone has a remedy for perpetually dry lips please help a sista out), I appreciate that this lipstick felt moisturizing on the lips.

Next is the eyeshadow palette in 710 va-va violets. This was a great purple shade quad that paired well with the deep plum lipstick. Once again, Covergirl did not disappoint with the pigmentation in this product. Another win for the dark side!

Finally, we have the Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant nail gloss in 200 Speed of Light. One of the first things I noticed about the product is the thick brush applicator which made painting my nails with this polish much easier because of how evenly it applied. The polish comes out like a muted pale gray. This color is seriously perfect for the neutral nail color mood I’ve been in for the past six months.

  1. Starwars make up? This is insane..can’t wait to look like Queen Amidala and moisturize my perpetual dry lips too !

The character that is dearest to me is Chewbacca as he might not be a human being but this 200 yr old wookiee has a big heart for rescuing C-3PO from being melted down and is truly a loyal friend for risking his life for his Boushh-prisoner act to save his best friend Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt. Will be camping at the AMC theater to see Chewie soon (guilty for contributing 26 out of 68,134,363 views of this Starwars trailer LOL)…May the force be with you too!
