One of the first things you’ll notice when you come to Korea is that they are incredibly serious about their coffee. The cafe culture is so real. There are cafes around every corner competing to be the most trendy and Instagram-worthy cafe.
Naturally, I ate my way around Seoul to find the best one 🙂 And sure enough, I found my favorite cafe on one of my first days there…
Innisfree Green Cafe – Myeongdong
Address: 15, Myeongdong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
서울특별시 중구 명동길 15 (명동1가)
Do yourself a favor and make a plan to visit the Innisfree Green Cafe in Myeongdong. This was one of my absolute favorite cafes that we ate at! The serene atmosphere (literally serene because they had nature sounds and birds chirping as background music) is a great escape from the packed streets of Myeongdong.
We started our shopping day here with a small brunch and drinks. I got this toast dish that was topped with ricotta cheese, scrambled eggs, and cherry tomatoes–a perfect and light meal. It also came with a delicious salad that had a citrus dressing (my guess is it was 한라봉/Hallabong, a citrus fruit native to Jeju-do).
For drinks, I got the sea lemonade, which was a green-looking type of “ade.” In Korea, there’s lots of variations of “ade” drinks, which are essentially sparkling lemonades. I’m not quite sure what’s in Innisfree’s sea lemonade, but it’s damn good and super refreshing.
I couldn’t leave without trying their green tea scones. It came with a trio of jams and some dried fruit. The scone was dense and moist. I wish I had gotten a hot tea to go with it. That would’ve been the perfect combo to end the meal!
