In the grand scheme of things, it seems really impossible that having “standard” sizes like small, medium, large, and even one-size-fits-all can really cater to every individual on this planet. That’s why I was really intrigued when a custom-fit online clothing company called eShakti approached me to try out their service. Therefore, here’s my honest review of eShakti!
So when you pick an item, there is an option to stick with standard sizing, but the custom sizing is where we’re going to focus on for today! So first off, if you don’t have measuring tape, then this is going to be a bit more of a hassle for you to figure out all of your measurements (you pretty much need it to do this tbh). I included a screenshot of all the specifics of what they ask for. I found it really cool that you can change the sleeve type and skirt length of the dress because, let’s be real, we all have certain sleeve types that we’re not a fan of (for me, cap sleeves are the worst!)
Shipping seemed extra fast for an international package–around 5 days to arrive from Delhi, India. It came in a flat branded box where it was folded neatly just like they fold clothes at retail stores. My first impression was that it was very well-presented upon arrival.
Material-wise it’s fairly thin, stiff, and not very breathable and stretchy, but its tailored fit helps makes up for this.
The custom fit on my torso was amazing, but on my arms the sleeves felt a little tight and uncomfortable. Although I’m not sure if this is because my self-measurement skills just suck or if it was on the tailor’s side! I do wish that I had changed the skirt length of the dress because it’s a little past my knees, and me being the short person that I am it makes me seem a little shorter. #ShortPeopleProbs
The service was very professional and timely, especially since when I completed my order it didn’t send my confirmation email right away. Their media relations executive responded promptly and confirmed my order, with my actual confirmation email arriving in my inbox a little while later.
While there are indeed additional fees for custom-fit clothing (eShakti’s is a $9.95 flat rate), I really like the idea of having the reassurance that you are the one in control of how your clothes will fit. It’s always a toss-up when you’re ordering from an online retailer for the first time, amirite!
