I am definitely not the first person to say that starting my blog was one of the greatest decisions of my life. There’s just something so stimulating and inspiring about having your own personal project where you have full creative reign. I’d say, if you love writing and photography, then blogging is one of the best creative outlets for you. It doesn’t even have to be a fashion blog because there are all kinds of blogs out there! Personal, private, food, travel, you name it!
But on a more serious note…Speaking from the heart, after blogging for a while and being photographed time after time now, my confidence and self-esteem has truly soared. I used to be so uncomfortable with everything about myself (especially thanks to teen angst), but blogging and opening up my life to the public world has taught me to embrace all of that and to really appreciate myself because such is deeply rooted in how your audience perceives you.
I think one of the most important parts is to make sure you’re doing it for yourself and having fun with it. Yea sure, most of the time, it does tend to feel like a job when it comes to scheduling posts and photoshoots on top of networking, but it hardly feels like a tiresome job because I’m passionate about what I do. I try my hardest not to let the pressure of needing to post everyday and having constant content for social media get to me because that can get so stressful and can make blogging not so fun anymore. It also helps immensely to have a friend to work with whether they be a photographer, fellow blogger, etc.
And sure, the urgency to constantly update every outfit you’re wearing, food you’re eating, right down to that aesthetic floor you’re standing on will always be omnipresent–that’s a stone cold fact. However, I just try to focus on what’s more fun to think about like my next outfit for a photoshoot or what cool upcoming photoshoot locations I can scope out. In the end, if you’re passionate enough about it, you’ll be happy with whatever you’re doing and it will bring more positivity into your life than negativity.
So if you’re thinking about starting your own blog, go for it! Because just ask yourself, why not?
